Celebrating my 41st from the camper

I spent my 41st birthday the same way I’ve come to appreciate most things lately: outside, moving, and without much of a plan.

The day started with a hike alongside my good friend Jonathan Buford. No agenda. Just walking, talking, and letting the trail set the pace. It felt like a fitting way to mark the day — not as a milestone, but as a moment.

After that, I headed out to Roosevelt Lake to celebrate with friends. We planned a few days. We cooked, shared meals, watched the light change, and slowed everything down. It felt good enough that we decided not to rush it — and ended up staying to spend Thanksgiving there too.

This episode also marks the first time I’ve fully switched camera systems. It was shot entirely on the Nikon Z8 and Zf, not as a test or a review, but simply as tools used in real life — hiking, handheld moments, changing light, unplanned conversations. The kind of use that matters to me.

The camper and systems you see throughout were built with River Outdoors, designed to support both living and working on the road without turning either into a performance.

There’s no big takeaway here. Just a quiet reminder that some of the best decisions happen when you stop forcing the timeline — and let a good thing last a little longer.
